Experimental psychology can give an important contribution to sports sciences, proposing technical tolols that facilitate the evaluation process of the human resources. In this study the AA focused on q concrete problem: The motor reprogramming in tennis. It is well known that sport competitions often require quickly changes of a motor action, and that high level player have the adequate cognitive skills to reorganize the movements. In the literature there is no psychological tool to measure these skills in tennis, probably because it is very difficult to assesss those in acological environment. The AA have created an experimental setting that forced players to modify their action when they had already started their motor action.
The aim of this study was to control if thos paradigm can be used to assess these abilities.
The results show that the Authors’method does not modify the natural athletes behaviour and that variations in the test difficulty can be well controlled even in a realistic setting.
In conclusion, this paradigm seems to be an efficacy tool to assess the motor reprogramming skills in an ecological environment, and its applications can help coaches and players in improving training systems and therefore tennis performance.
